Allimay Jackson - She is the current client of private investigator Bobby Malone. She hired Bobby to find out who killed her fiance, Esteban Hill, in an apparent drug deal gone wrong.

Alyosha - Full name Alyosha Lutsenko, he is the favorite grandson of the Bratva crime boss Fyodor Vitsin, for whom he works. He leads a company of Russian thugs.
First appearance: Chapter 10.
Bish - Full name Bishop Flannigan, nickname: Bish the Fish. A large taciturn brute working with Abner Valentino for Harry Hoyle. He is a collections agent that has had several run-ins with Bobby Malone.

Bobby Malone - POV character. His full name is Robert Dority Quovadis Malone. His nickname is Bobby Bourbon. He is a private investigator in NV City. Bobby is an expatriate of the Lone Star Republic, where he once worked as a police officer. He was a hostage negotiator and then a homicide detective before he left his debts and estranged wife Monica behind to come to NV City. He currently owes Harry Hoyle a substantial sum of money and is working on a case for Allimay Jackson.

CASSIE - Full name: Cassiopeia. She is an AI “navigator” / “copilot” created by the slicer Isaac Shinseki, whom she assists.
First appearance: Chapter 1.
Danylets - A street level Russian drug dealer who worked for the Nevada Bratva. Danylets was killed during a drug deal a few weeks before the start of the novel. He was attempting to sell drugs to Esteban Hill.
First mention: Chapter 17.
Dmitry - Nickname: Dimka. A Russian bartender who works at The Rusty Schooner. He is a member of the Nevada Bratva. Dmitry is also the husband of Fyodor Vitsin’s niece.
First appearance: Chapter 2.
Dwight Thompson - Nickname / Stage name: “Dwight the Night”. He was a famous porn star and celebrity. He was also the devoted boyfriend of Mary Okinawa. He died a week before the start of the novel in another drug deal gone wrong.
First mention: Chapter 15.
Esteban Hill - The fiance of Allimay Jackson, he was killed while attempting to buy drugs from Danylets a few weeks before the start of the novel. His death led Allimay to hire Bobby Malone to investigate what really happened.
First mention: Chapter 17.
Fyodor Vitsin - Nicknames: Fyodor the Butcher, Fyodor the Bloody, the Butcher of East Envy. He is the Russian head of the Nevada Bratva in Envy City and a leader of “The Big Six” criminal organizations. He does run an actual butcher’s shop, but his “Butcher” nickname refers to his infamous ruthlessness, cruelty, and violence. He is the grandfather of Alyosha Lutsenko and is also distantly related to Dmitry, the bartender working at The Rusty Schooner.

The Goto Twins - They are the co-heads of clan Goto, the most powerful, prestigious, and dangerous yakuza organization in Envy City. The other yakuza that make up the Five Clans in the city also answer to them. Together, the Goto Twins are considered the leaders of one of the “Big Six” criminal organizations. They rule over the Downtown district, and they and their lieutenants also hold significant influence over several Japanese corporations.
First Mention: Chapter 16.
Harry Hoyle - Full name: Harry Bernard Hoyle. Nicknames: The Professor, Mr. Hoyle, Barry Hoyle. He is one of the most respected leaders of the “Big Six” criminal organizations in Envy City. He runs “Hoyleside”, a district of the city informally nicknamed after him. His criminal organization is known as the Natives, because a majority of them are white and have lived there for generations (as opposed to the more recent Japanese, Russian, and Hispanic immigrants). Harry is considered patient, wise, and cunning, but no less dangerous than Fyodor Vitsin or the Goto Twins; he has ruled in Envy City longer than any of the other Big Six representatives. His “Professor” nickname is a reference to his previous profession before his life of crime.

Isaac Shinseki - POV character. Nickname: Ike. He is a young but talented half-Japanese half-Filipino “slicer” (hacker) and an expert in black market robotic modifications. He created Cassiopeia to help him in his slicing activities and has modded many robots for several criminal organizations, including a couple of ones used by the Nevada Bratva at The Rusty Schooner. He quickly develops an interest in Bobby Malone.

Larry - Full name: Larry Francis Hanamura. He is the agent/manager of world renowned porn star Mary Okinawa. He has frequent dealings with Japanese corporate executives and their yakuza masters in NV City. Recently, his relationship with Mary has soured dramatically, especially after the death of Dwight Thompson.
First mention: Chapter 15.
First appearance: Chapter 21.
Mary Okinawa - POV character. “Mary Okinawa” is the stage name of Maria Hoshizaki Venezzi, the second most famous and well-paid porn actress working for Jazzo Studios. Mary is half-Japanese and half-Italian. After failing to get her acting career off the ground in Okinawa City, she left her parents and younger brother behind in Japan and went to Envy City, where her beauty guaranteed success in a much dirtier profession. She has recently become depressed and disillusioned, especially after losing her boyfriend Dwight Thompson in an apparent drug deal gone wrong. She wants answers from the yakuza that pull the strings of the corporations in the Downtown District, and she desperately wants to escape “The Biz”.

Monica - Full name: Monica Esperanza Malone - Nickname: Dixie Daniels. Monica is the estranged wife of Bobby Malone. She worked as a prostitute on the Eastside of the Fort in Tarrant City, Texas. She is one of the main reasons Bobby had to flee Texas and come to NV City, as she ran up many debts to very dangerous men. As far as Bobby knows, she is still alive and living in the Fort. It has been years since they last spoke, however.
