"Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower." - Camus
I wrote this poem for Claire, when she was still just a kid.
Every Leaf A Flower
By Tyler Morrison
A decade sounds long— Unless it’s your life. At ten years, my niece Still skips along a sidewalk. There’s a Spring in her step, And the Summer’s in her hair. The air she breathes is older, Full of crisp October. Seated on the balcony, I suddenly feel my age: A young man too old For artless, harmless play. Yet seeing Claire now, I clearly remember: Every leaf, said Camus, In autumn's a flower.
