”Where The West Begins” is one of the many nicknames of Fort Worth, my home. This substack is the culmination of over a decade of writing, editing, and reading. Before, my audience was just a close circle of other writers, my closest friends. I decided it was past time to publish my poems, stories, and articles somewhere, even if they didn’t make me any money. I had to put my stuff out there, all of it, the good, the bad, and the silly.
If you have an interest in science-fiction and fantasy, in detective fiction and romantic and Christian poetry, as well as articles on politics, pop culture, and high culture, then this newsletter might scratch your itch.

I’m a Catholic convert and a native of Fort Worth in North Texas. I’ve been stewing and brooding over the current shape of the country and wanting something better than this broken and decadent nation. Some of the things I write are warnings, and other are praise for the Good, the True, and the Beautiful. With everything I publish, I am attempting to add to the great Western Literary Tradition.
