Winter’s Cold First Kiss
By Tyler Morrison
Dear brother and sweet sister,
Let's walk down by the river.
We'll whisper and we'll shiver
At winter's cold first kiss.
Then we'll watch the golden leaves
Slip down sleepy streams
With old forgotten dreams
We remember we should miss.
Here's how we'll spend
The end of December:
Pretending with friends
And absolute strangers.
Those obsolete calendars
Portend not a thing
For our futures!
We’ll be sharing some laughs and drinks,
Shedding some tears or clothing,
But leaving our youthful fears
Unspoken yet again.
So, dear brother and sweet sister,
Let's walk back to the river.
We'll whisper and we'll shiver
To think we might lose this bliss.
